State lists six more virus cases in Dickinson

State COVID-19 data Saturday showed six more confirmed positives in Dickinson County and one in Iron County.

In Wisconsin, Marinette County had two new coronavirus cases this weekend.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 website Saturday listed 56 new confirmed cases: 13 in Marquette County; 10 in Delta County; eight in Chippewa County; seven in Schoolcraft County; six in Dickinson County; four in Menominee and Houghton counties; two in Gogebic County; and one each in Iron, Mackinac and Alger counties; Luce County’s count was reduced by one.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Saturday has had 17,428 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 399 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Saturday had Keweenaw County at 124 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 143 confirmed cases and 133 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 267 confirmed cases and 47 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 289 confirmed, 166 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 323 confirmed cases and 171 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 376 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 520 confirmed cases, 107 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 885 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Chippewa County, 888 confirmed cases and 1,197 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Gogebic County, 974 confirmed cases and 357 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,659 confirmed cases, 281 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,208 confirmed cases and 258 probable, 55 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,295 confirmed cases, 559 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,814 confirmed cases and 527 probable, 67 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,663 confirmed cases, 635 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Saturday posted 8,413 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 692,206. The state added 57 new deaths Saturday — including 51 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 16,218.

The state no longer updates its COVID-19 figures on Sundays.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site this weekend had two new confirmed positives in Marinette and Vilas counties, and one in Iron County.

The DHS on Sunday had Marinette County with 4,010 confirmed cases, 412 probable cases and 65 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,197 confirmed, 142 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 937 confirmed, 72 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 569 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 430 confirmed, 50 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 706 new positives Saturday and 584 on Sunday for a total of 579,877 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed seven new deaths Saturday but took back one on Sunday for a total of 6,639.
