DIDHD: Iron County has 12 new virus cases, Dickinson 9

Local health officials Thursday reported a dozen more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County and nine new cases in Dickinson County since its last update Monday.

In a Facebook post Thursday morning, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also listed six new probable cases in Dickinson County and five recovered cases.

The agency had Dickinson County at 2,371 confirmed positives and 329 probable cases, with 2,411 recovered, 72 deaths and 217 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 958 confirmed cases and 69 probables, with 903 recovered, 48 deaths and 76 active cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Thursday added 60 new confirmed positives: 10 in Delta and Marquette counties; eight in Schoolcraft County; seven in Baraga County; six in Menominee County; five in Houghton County; four in Chippewa and Mackinac counties; three in Iron County; and one each in Dickinson, Ontonagon and Alger counties. The state recorded two more coronavirus-related deaths in the region, both in Delta County.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Thursday has had 19,392 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 414 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Thursday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 185 confirmed cases and 196 probable, one confirmed death and one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 309 confirmed cases and 65 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 319 confirmed, 188 probable and two deaths, four probable; Ontonagon County, 398 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 406 confirmed cases and 227 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 609 confirmed cases, 118 probable and 35 deaths; Iron County, 955 confirmed cases and 66 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,008 confirmed cases and 360 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,042 confirmed cases and 1,365 probable, and 27 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,757 confirmed cases, 317 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,364 confirmed cases and 327 probable, 58 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,468 confirmed cases, 599 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,259 confirmed cases and 651 probable, 71 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,171 confirmed cases, 794 probable and 57 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Thursday posted 3,514 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 858,050. The state Thursday had 115 deaths attributed to the virus — including 92 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 18,054.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Thursday showed two new confirmed positives in both Marinette and Vilas counties.

The DHS on Thursday had Marinette County with 4,138 confirmed cases, 452 probable cases and 66 deaths, four probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,245 confirmed, 146 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 959 confirmed, 79 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 576 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 446 confirmed, 55 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 667 new positives Thursday for a total of 601,603 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed 14 new deaths Thursday to reach 6,877.
