DIDHD: Nine more virus cases in Dickinson, four in Iron

Local health officials Monday reported nine more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and four in Iron County since its last update Friday.

In a Facebook post Monday morning, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also listed two new probable cases in Dickinson County and 23 recovered cases, while Iron County had one probable and six recoveries.

The agency had Dickinson County at 2,362 confirmed positives and 323 probable cases, with 2,406 recovered, 72 deaths and 207 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 946 confirmed cases and 69 probables, with 903 recovered, 48 deaths and 64 active cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday added 66 new confirmed positives for the two-day period: 14 in Baraga County, 13 in Delta County, nine in Marquette County, eight in Menominee County, seven in Houghton County, four in Gogebic County, three in Dickinson and Iron counties; two in Chippewa and Alger counties, and one in Luce County.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 19,209 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 411 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 178 confirmed cases and 186 probable, one confirmed death and one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 298 confirmed cases and 61 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 311 confirmed, 187 probable and two deaths, four probable; Mackinac County, 395 confirmed cases and 225 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 397 confirmed, 57 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 586 confirmed cases, 114 probable and 34 deaths; Iron County, 944 confirmed cases and 65 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,007 confirmed cases and 360 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,034 confirmed cases and 1,352 probable, and 27 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,744 confirmed cases, 317 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,357 confirmed cases and 320 probable, 58 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,452 confirmed cases, 595 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,237 confirmed cases and 640 probable, 69 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,127 confirmed cases, 794 probable and 57 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday posted 5,035 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total to date of 849,420. The state Monday recorded 29 deaths attributed to the virus over the two-day period to reach 17,771.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had only two new confirmed positives, both in Marinette County.

The DHS on Monday had Marinette County with 4,116 confirmed cases, 444 probable cases and 66 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,237 confirmed, 146 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 957 confirmed, 78 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 575 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 444 confirmed, 55 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 349 new positives Monday for a total of 599,576 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed no new deaths Monday to remain at 6,839.
