IRON MOUNTAIN -- Heavy Metal Tours is seeking nominations to recognize local high school graduates pursuing careers in manufacturing and technical occupations after graduation.
The Dickinson County area is home to many large companies that offer meaningful careers in fields that align with career and technical education paths available through the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Tech Center and Bay College West.
"We want to celebrate these students as they enter the next phase of life, either in the workforce or in a training program," said Lois Ellis, Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance executive director. "While four-year colleges or universities tend to get a lot of attention, receiving a degree or certification from a technical or community college prepares students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill and high-demand careers, right here in the Dickinson County area."
Teachers, parents, counselors, and friends can nominate a high school senior for a chance to win a prize package that includes a $25 Step Ahead gift card, Heavy Metal Tours T-shirt, and more from area businesses as well as recognition on social media.
To nominate a senior from Forest Park, Iron Mountain, Kingsford, North Dickinson County, Norway, or West Iron County high schools in Michigan or Niagara and Florence County in Wisconsin, go to https://bit.ly/2Pnuv6K.
One random winner from each area high school will be selected from the entries received. Those who nominated the winners will be contacted by email May 21.
