MATTHEW ANCE

IRON MOUNTAIN — An Iron Mountain man accused of having child pornography was arraigned May 7 in Dickinson County District Court.

Matthew Ance, 38, is charged with six counts of the aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison; and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Ance had child sexually abusive material on a computer.

Ance was arrested after an investigation by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to a release from the Michigan State Police. The investigation reportedly stemmed from a tip submitted through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipLine.

Multiple internet-capable devices and other evidence was seized during a search of a Dickinson County residence, the release stated.

A probable cause conference is set for Thursday, with a preliminary hearing May 27.
