North Central names Class of 2021 top students

JAIDEN FLEETWOOD

POWERS — North Central Area Schools has announced the top seniors for the graduating Class of 2021:

— Valedictorian is Jaiden Fleetwood, daughter of Nathan and Sarah Fleetwood of Powers. She had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9559. Fleetwood has volunteered time with Community Project Day activities, PS Lions Club pasty and brat sales and tutoring. She has served as student council representative for her class for two years, Key Club one year and was elected treasurer for the National Honor Society for three years. Honors and awards she has received in high school include Academic Excellence Awards four years, Citizenship Award, All “A” honor roll four years, as well as various awards in English, math, science and history. Her extracurricular activities include three years of basketball and track. Her hobbies and free-time activities include spending time with family and friends, shopping, listening to music, watching Netflix and spending time outdoors. Future plans for Fleetwood include attending Bay de Noc Community College this fall, then transferring to Northern Michigan University at a later date to pursue a degree in nursing. She hopes to become a nurse practitioner.

— Salutatorian is Wyatt Riley, son of Jamie and Jamie Riley of Hermansville. He had a cumulative GPA of 3.9556. Riley has volunteered time with Community Project Day activities. He has umpired youth baseball games and ran the clock for alumni and youth basketball tournaments. Riley has received the Academic Excellence Award during each of his high school years and all “A” honor roll all four years. His extracurricular activities include four years of cross country, football, basketball and baseball; and one year of track and golf. Honors in athletics include all-state track, all-conference baseball, all-district baseball, all-conference football and a state championship in football. Riley has been in National Honor Society for two years. During his free time, he enjoys sports, hunting, hanging out with friends and playing poker. His future plans include attending Bay de Noc Community College in the fall to pursue an engineering degree. After two years at Bay, he plans to transfer to another school to finish his bachelor’s degree.

— Top honor student is Chloe Webber, daughter of Andy and Jennifer Webber of Spalding. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.80. Webber has been active in basketball for three years, plus track and golf. She served on student council in ninth grade and was class vice president in 10th and 11th grades. She participated in Key Club and has been an active member of the National Honor Society for three years and currently is vice president. She has participated in all Community Project Day activities. Some of the awards and honors earned include Academic Excellence Awards, honor roll and individual awards in math, English and science. During her free time, Webber enjoys being with friends and family and doing nails. She intends to complete her bachelor of science in nursing to become a cosmetic injector.

Additional students from the Class of 2021 who earned honor student status with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are: Andie Arsenault, Olivia Arnold, Cheyenne Borucki, Thomas Tighe, Nevaeh Hundsrucker, Daniel Dani, Gracey Grondine, Levi Linder and Fabian Chartier.

Graduation ceremonies will begin at 6 p.m. Central time Friday, May 21, in the high school gymnasium.
