Norway names top students for Class of 2021

JEFFREY VAN HOLLA

NORWAY — The Norway-Vulcan Area School District has announced its top six graduates for 2021. They are:

— Jeffrey Van Holla, son of David and Julie Van Holla. During his time at Norway High School, he was a member of student council, Youth Advisory Committee and the National Honor Society. Van Holla participated in golf, basketball, cross country and track. He also is employed at Oak Crest Golf Course. He plans to major in business and finance at Michigan State University.

— Brandon Dishaw, son of Wade and Lesley Dishaw. At NHS, he was a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, Key Club, Student Council and Spanish Club. Outside of school, Dishaw is a member of the Badwater Ski-ters waterski team. He plans to major in pre-medicine at Michigan State University.

— Abigail Brodersen, daughter of Cathy and Dan Brodersen. During high school, she was a member of chorus, vocal jazz, Youth Advisory Committee, Quiz Bowl team and Spanish Club. Brodersen also is on the track team. Outside of school, she participates in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and is a member of a youth group in Pembine. She plans to major in electrical engineering at Michigan Technological University.

— Elizabeth Brodersen, daughter of Cathy and Dan Brodersen. She participated in chorus, Spanish Club and was on the track team. She also is a member of a youth group. She plans to attend Bay de Noc Community College before transferring to a four-year university to major in nursing.

BRANDON DISHAW

— Kassandra Kay, daughter of Chad and Stacey Kay. She participated in Youth Advisory Committee, LEO Club, Student Council, Key Club, Drama Club, Robotics Club and Vocal Jazz. She was on the volleyball and track teams as well. Outside of school, she has a part-time job. She plans to major in elementary education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

— Ian Steigerwald, son of Louis and Ricarda Steigerwald. He was a member of Jam Band, Personal Band, the Youth Advisory Committee, Robotics Club, Spanish Club and the National Honor Society at NHS. He plans to major in material engineering at the University of Michigan.

Graduation ceremonies will take place at 6 p.m. May 28 in the Norway-Vulcan Area Schools Fine Arts Center.
