State lists 77 new UP virus cases, four more in Dickinson

State data Tuesday showed four more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County as the Upper Peninsula added 77 new cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Tuesday listed 24 new coronavirus cases in Marquette County; eight in Baraga County; seven in Alger County; six in Delta, Luce and Houghton counties; five in Menominee and Chippewa counties; four in Dickinson and Mackinac counties; and two in Schoolcraft County.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 19,286 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 411 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 184 confirmed cases and 193 probable, one confirmed death and one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 300 confirmed cases and 62 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 318 confirmed, 187 probable and two deaths, four probable; Ontonagon County, 397 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 399 confirmed cases and 225 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 594 confirmed cases, 115 probable and 34 deaths; Iron County, 944 confirmed cases and 66 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,007 confirmed cases and 360 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,039 confirmed cases and 1,357 probable, and 27 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,749 confirmed cases, 316 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,361 confirmed cases and 324 probable, 58 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,458 confirmed cases, 598 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,243 confirmed cases and 644 probable, 69 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,151 confirmed cases, 791 probable and 57 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Tuesday posted 2,527 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 851,947. The state Tuesday recorded 126 deaths attributed to the virus — including 51 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 17,897.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had 17 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, four in Vilas County, two in Florence County and one each in Forest and Iron counties.

The DHS on Tuesday had Marinette County with 4,133 confirmed cases, 446 probable cases and 66 deaths, four probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,241 confirmed, 146 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 958 confirmed, 79 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 576 confirmed, 117 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 446 confirmed, 55 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 721 new positives Tuesday for a total of 600,297 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state listed 11 new deaths Tuesday to reach 6,850.
