IRON MOUNTAIN -- The Menominee Range Historical Foundation Promotional Committee has selected Dolly Cook as the grand marshal for this year's Independence Day parade in Iron Mountain-Kingsford.

Cook retired as Dickinson County clerk-register of deeds effective Feb. 28 after holding the position since Nov. 12, 1990. She was the longest-serving clerk by nine years in the Upper Peninsula at the time of her retirement.

"Our group is excited and honored to have Dolly represent us and the community in this year's parade," Parade Chairman Ashley Ellis said. "She is well-respected by the citizens after serving honorably for over three decades."

This year's parade will step off at 9 a.m. Saturday and will use the same route as previous years. Entry forms for those wishing to participate are available at Super One Foods, Tadych's Family Market, the Pasty Oven and online at www.menomineemuseum.com. Walk-ups will not be accepted.
