Dickinson board corrects mental health authority vacancy

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Board on July 12 rescinded a previous motion that appointed two people to the Northpointe Behavioral Healthcare Systems Authority.

The board on June 28 had appointed Korby Howell and Wendy Mattia to partial terms with the mental health authority, but reversed the decision because there is only a single vacancy.

The board designated Howell to fill the vacancy, a partial term that runs through March 2024.

In other business, the board:

— Appointed Merlin Calkins to a vacant position on the Fumee Lake Commission. Calkins’ term expires July 2023.

— Approved a resolution supporting the U.P. Area Agency on Aging’s 2022 annual implementation plan for services to Upper Peninsula older adults. The document can be viewed at www.upcap.org.
