MARQUETTE — A 40-year-old Marquette man is missing after his capsized kayak was found Wednesday in Lake Superior just north of Partridge Island.

Brett Russell Harriman launched the kayak into Lake Superior off Presque Isle near the Pavilion between 12:30 and 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Marquette Police Department.

Officers checked the shoreline and nearby islands. Harriman’s kayak was recovered about a half-mile north of Partridge Island.

The search for Harriman continued Thursday with the assistance of the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office Marine Operations and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
