State lists two more Dickinson virus cases

State data Tuesday indicated two new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County, while neighboring Menominee County had three more cases reported along with a new coronavirus-related death.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website since the last update Friday also added four more confirmed positives in Gogebic County and two in Marquette County; Chippewa County’s count was reduced by one.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 20,107 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 443 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 226 confirmed cases and 255 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 323 confirmed, 196 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 354 confirmed cases and 84 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 421 confirmed, 61 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 458 confirmed cases and 256 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 695 confirmed cases, 128 probable and 39 deaths; Iron County, 985 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,048 confirmed cases and 363 probable, 23 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,096 confirmed cases and 1,418 probable, and 28 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,802 confirmed cases, 330 probable and 42 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,414 confirmed cases and 344 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,536 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,345 confirmed cases and 712 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,262 confirmed cases, 827 probable and 63 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated regularly but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Tuesday added 438 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since its last update Friday for a total to date of 895,395. The state Tuesday had 21 new deaths attributed to the virus — including 16 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing — to reach 19,775.

The state starting this week began posting new COVID data only twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Tuesday had two new confirmed positives in Vilas County and one in Florence County.

As in Michigan, state numbers are updated regularly but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin on Tuesday added 158 new positives since its last update Friday for a total of 613,152 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded eight new deaths over the three-day period to reach 7,323.
