State shows six new virus positives in Dickinson

State data Friday showed six new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and two in Iron County in the past three days.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday had 28 new confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula for the three-day period since Tuesday: eight in Delta County; six in Dickinson and Houghton counties; three in Mackinac County; two in Iron County; and one each in Menominee, Ontonagon and Chippewa counties. A new death was recorded for Chippewa County, but the state again reduced Menominee County’s toll by one.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 20,227 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 445 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 227 confirmed cases and 254 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 323 confirmed, 196 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 355 confirmed cases and 84 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 424 confirmed, 61 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 465 confirmed cases and 256 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 695 confirmed cases, 128 probable and 39 deaths; Iron County, 998 confirmed cases and 73 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,080 confirmed cases and 364 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,120 confirmed cases and 1,427 probable, and 29 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 1,804 confirmed cases, 331 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,427 confirmed cases and 345 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,544 confirmed cases, 607 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,357 confirmed cases and 716 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,266 confirmed cases, 833 probable and 63 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated regularly but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday had 1,295 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since its last update Tuesday for a total to date of 899,921. The state Friday added 21 deaths attributed to the virus — including seven that occurred earlier but were later verified through a vital records review — to reach 19,883.

The state earlier this month began posting new COVID data only twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had two new confirmed positives in Forest County and one each in Florence and Marinette counties; Iron County’s count was reduced by one.

The DHS COVID-19 data site Friday had Marinette County with 4,246 confirmed cases, 479 probable cases and 68 deaths, six probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,299 confirmed, 149 probable and 42 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 973 confirmed, 82 probable and 24 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 591 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 458 confirmed, 55 probable and 13 deaths.

Wisconsin on Friday had 405 new positives for a total of 616,503 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded five new deaths to reach 7,398.
