AURORA, Wis. — The first UP Garden Tractor Pullers event this summer will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the southwest corner where Highway N and B meet in Aurora.
Other events are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, July 31; 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6; and 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. Look for the red and white pendants flying at Highway N and B to find the site.
Cost is $5 for adults; children younger than 12 are admitted free. All gate proceeds from the pulls go to the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department. Food and beverages will be available at the event, with money earned used for club improvements. Carry- ins are allowed.
Pullers come from Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, with several based in Aurora, Homestead and Niagara, Wis. Sometimes mini-rods from the Lena and Oconto Falls area also join in on the event.
The event starts out with the strictly stock tractors and goes up through Altered Stock, Pro-Stock, Modified, Super Modified, Outlaw and ends the day with Super Outlaw. This includes lawn tractors modified to include truck and motorcycle engines. They take several pulls throughout the event for an exciting time.
The UP Garden Tractor Pullers also will be at the Florence County Fair at 5 p.m. Aug. 27.
The club was based out of Flat Rock in the U.P. and now is in Florence County in Wisconsin. A non-profit organization, UP Garden Tractor Pullers Inc. meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at the Docks N Moor shop in Spread Eagle, Wis.
