Body recovered in Net River

AMASA — Divers on Tuesday recovered the body of the owner of a vehicle found submerged in the Net River near Amasa.

James Davis, 21, of Crystal Falls, was found dead by the Michigan State Police dive team, according to a news release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.

The submerged vehicle was discovered Sunday near the Snake River Rapids boat launch.

Authorities searched the area, including surrounding cabins, but were unable to locate the owner, now identified as Davis. The incident remains under investigation and it is believed alcohol was a contributing factor, the release stated.

Deputies were assisted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan State Police, Iron County Search and Rescue, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and Iron County Central Dispatch.
