BEECHER, Wis. — A 68-year-old Greenfield, Wis., man died Sunday after an ATV crash in the Town of Beecher.

Deputies were called about noon to private property near Park Street off Smeester School Road, where a man driving an ATV reportedly quickly accelerated out of a garage and crashed into a rock and trees, according to a news release from Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

The man, identified as Michael Heritsch, was ejected, with the ATV landing on him. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the Marinette County assistant medical examiner pronounced Heritsch dead at the site.

The incident remains under investigation by law enforcement and the medical examiner’s office.

Deputies were assisted by the Pembine-Dunbar-Beecher Rescue Squad, Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine Fire Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Integrity Care EMS.
