State lists 104 new UP virus positives in 2-day span
In Wisconsin, 33 new cases in Marinette County
State data Wednesday showed 104 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula in the past two days, with seven in Dickinson County and two in Iron County.
Across the border, Wisconsin health officials reported 33 more confirmed cases in Marinette County since Monday.
For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday listed since Monday 23 new confirmed positives in Delta County, 17 in Gogebic County, 16 in Menominee County, 12 in Houghton County, 10 in Marquette County, seven in Dickinson County, four in both Schoolcraft and Mackinac counties, three each in Chippewa and Ontonagon counties, two in Iron and Baraga counties and one in Luce County.
Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 20,785 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 447 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 231 confirmed cases and 261 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 326 confirmed, 200 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 369 confirmed cases and 94 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 438 confirmed, 62 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 475 confirmed cases and 265 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 709 confirmed cases, 130 probable and 40 deaths; Iron County, 1,015 confirmed cases and 73 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,139 confirmed cases and 370 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,144 confirmed cases and 1,458 probable, and 29 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,873 confirmed cases, 384 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,466 confirmed cases and 389 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,615 confirmed cases, 621 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,536 confirmed cases and 746 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,307 confirmed cases, 855 probable and 64 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated regularly but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Wednesday had 2,690 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 1,345 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 925,377. The state Wednesday added 46 deaths attributed to the virus — including 15 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 20,076.
The state now provides updated COVID-19 figures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had, along with the 33 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, eight more cases in Vilas County, six in Forest County and one in Iron County.
The DHS COVID-19 data site Wednesday had Marinette County with 4,358 confirmed cases, 525 probable cases and 68 deaths, seven probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,352 confirmed, 151 probable and 42 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 1,008 confirmed, 85 probable and 24 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 609 confirmed, 121 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 460 confirmed, 59 probable and 13 deaths.
Wisconsin has added 2,982 new positives since Monday for a total of 641,553 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state to date. The state recorded 28 deaths over the two days to reach 7,499.
