State: Seven new virus cases in Iron, five more in Dickinson
State data Monday showed seven new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County and five in Dickinson County since Friday.
Across the border, Marinette County in Wisconsin added 16 confirmed cases over the weekend.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website listed 98 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 31 in Delta County; 11 in Menominee County; 10 in Houghton County; nine in Chippewa and Mackinac counties; seven in Iron County; six in Marquette County; five in Dickinson County; four in Ontonagon County; three in Gogebic County; and one each in Alger, Keweenaw and Baraga counties.
Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 21,023 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 448 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Monday had Keweenaw County at 146 confirmed cases and 33 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 233 confirmed cases and 263 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 333 confirmed, 206 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 371 confirmed cases and 96 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 452 confirmed, 63 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 497 confirmed cases and 266 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 719 confirmed cases, 129 probable and 40 deaths; Iron County, 1,028 confirmed cases and 73 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,138 confirmed cases and 370 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,164 confirmed cases and 1,474 probable, and 29 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,898 confirmed cases, 401 probable and 42 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,473 confirmed cases and 403 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,633 confirmed cases, 626 probable, 35 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,604 confirmed cases and 753 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,334 confirmed cases, 866 probable and 64 deaths, one probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Monday had 3,920 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 1,273 per day for the three days, for a total to date of 933,394. The state Monday added 10 deaths attributed to the virus — including five that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 20,123.
The state now provides updated COVID-19 figures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had the 16 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, four in Forest County, and one each in Iron and Vilas counties.
The DHS COVID-19 data site Monday had Marinette County with 4,385 confirmed cases, 548 probable cases and 68 deaths, seven probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,356 confirmed, 154 probable and 42 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 1,022 confirmed, 87 probable and 24 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 612 confirmed, 121 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 460 confirmed, 59 probable and 13 deaths.
Wisconsin added 1,584 new positives Monday for a total of 644,554 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state to date. The state recorded 13 deaths Monday to reach 7,516.
