Body of missing Au Train man found in Seney

SENEY — The body of an Au Train man reported missing in August has been found in the Seney area in Schoolcraft County, the Michigan State Police reported.

A Seney Township employee doing maintenance work along M-28 noticed vehicle tracks going approximately 100 yards into a heavily wooded ditch. The tracks led to an overturned truck that matched what the missing man had been driving, with a body inside, according to the MSP.

Investigators later confirmed the deceased male was 62-year-old Thomas Szafran, who had not been seen or heard from since leaving his Au Train residence early Aug. 24. It appears the truck went off the roadway into the wooded ditch area and rolled; no foul play is suspected, the MSP stated.

The crash remains under investigation by the Manistique post.
