Local health officials Thursday afternoon reported 31 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County in the past week, while Dickinson County added 14 more cases.

In addition to the new confirmed positives, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department in its Facebook post listed 50 new probable coronavirus cases in Dickinson County and seven probables in Iron County. Dickinson County also had 10 people considered recovered from the virus and Iron County five recoveries.

The DIDHD had Dickinson County at 2,505 confirmed positives and 472 probable cases, with 2,720 recovered, 72 deaths and 185 cases still active. For Iron County, the agency had 1,077 confirmed cases and 83 probables, with 1,035 recovered, 50 deaths and 75 active cases.

On the state level, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday had 159 new confirmed COVID-19 cases since Monday: 47 in Marquette County, 26 in both Delta and Menominee counties, 12 in Houghton County, 10 in Iron County, nine in Mackinac County, six in Baraga County, five in Schoolcraft and Alger counties, four in Gogebic and Chippewa counties, three in Ontonagon County and one each in Dickinson and Keweenaw counties. The state also listed new virus-related deaths in Marquette and Houghton counties.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 21,580 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 451 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 151 confirmed cases and 33 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 235 confirmed cases and 267 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 354 confirmed, 209 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 392 confirmed cases and 101 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 464 confirmed, 66 probable and 21 deaths, one probable;

Mackinac County, 532 confirmed cases and 272 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 749 confirmed cases, 137 probable and 40 deaths; Iron County, 1,063 confirmed cases and 81 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,160 confirmed cases and 370 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,189 confirmed cases and 1,518 probable, and 29 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,976 confirmed cases, 429 probable and 42 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,492 confirmed cases and 445 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,685 confirmed cases, 630 probable, 37 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,705 confirmed cases and 791 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,433 confirmed cases, 898 probable and 65 deaths, one probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Wednesday had 4,494 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 2,247 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 951,192. The state Wednesday added 59 deaths attributed to the virus — including 36 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 20,316.

The state now provides updated COVID-19 figures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site since Monday has added 24 new confirmed positives in Marinette County — plus 33 probable cases — along with 21 confirmed cases in Forest County, 15 in Vilas County, three in Iron County and one in Florence County. The state also recorded a new death and probable death in Marinette County.

The DHS COVID-19 data site Thursday had Marinette County with 4,479 confirmed cases, 591 probable cases and 69 deaths, eight probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,391 confirmed, 154 probable and 43 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 1,076 confirmed, 91 probable and 24 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 618 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 462 confirmed, 62 probable and 13 deaths.

Wisconsin has added 6,150 new positives in the state since Monday for a total of 665,473 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 54 more virus-related deaths in the past three days to reach 7,638.
