State shows 232 more virus cases in UP, 18 in Dickinson
State data Friday showed 232 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula in the past two days, including 18 more cases in Dickinson County, 11 in Iron County and 19 and a new virus-related death in Menominee County.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Friday listed 78 confirmed positives in Marquette County alone — plus a new death — along with 34 new virus cases in Delta County, 19 in Menominee and Houghton counties, 18 in Dickinson County, 14 in Chippewa County, 11 in Iron and Gogebic counties, nine in Mackinac County, seven in Alger and Baraga counties, four in Ontonagon County and one in Schoolcraft County.
Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 22,258 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 457 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 157 confirmed cases and 33 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 239 confirmed cases and 289 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 372 confirmed, 228 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 406 confirmed cases and 113 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 478 confirmed, 61 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 574 confirmed cases and 291 probable, four deaths; Baraga County, 779 confirmed cases, 141 probable and 41 deaths, one probable; Iron County, 1,104 confirmed cases and 95 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,189 confirmed cases and 372 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,221 confirmed cases and 1,573 probable, and 30 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 2,035 confirmed cases, 479 probable and 43 deaths, three probable; Dickinson County, 2,557 confirmed cases and 539 probable, 60 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,719 confirmed cases, 632 probable, 37 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,826 confirmed cases and 822 probable, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,602 confirmed cases, 931 probable and 66 deaths, one probable.
The MDHHS on Friday had 6,095 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Wednesday, or an average of 3,047 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 970,412. The state Friday added 59 deaths attributed to the virus — including 44 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 20,506.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had 10 new confirmed cases in Forest County, eight in Vilas County and three in Iron County; Marinette County’s count was reduced by one. The state posted a new death as well in Vilas County.
The DHS COVID-19 data site Friday had Marinette County with 4,541 confirmed cases, 634 probable cases and 69 deaths, eight probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,440 confirmed, 156 probable and 45 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 1,120 confirmed, 95 probable and 24 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 633 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 470 confirmed, 69 probable and 13 deaths.
Wisconsin added 2,332 new positives Friday for a total of 678,240 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 23 more virus-related deaths to reach 7,740.
