Gwinn schools to go virtual
MARQUETTE — The Gwinn Middle and High schools will go virtual starting today and continuing until at least Oct. 18 due to COVID-19 activity.
In a post Tuesday on Facebook, Gwinn Superintendent Brandon Bruce said, “Unfortunately, we continue to have high positive COVID rates at the MS/HS. I need to try to mitigate these high numbers and I feel the best way to do this is to shut the HS/MS down for a 10-day period.”
Students will continue to be instructed by their teachers, who will work in the buildings.
“Students will be instructed by staff regarding the expectations for their schoolwork,” Bruce wrote in the announcement. “They will need to log in for every class period and stay up on their schoolwork.”
The elementary schools, Gilbert and Sawyer, will remain open and in session as usual. The district will also offer athletics under a testing protocol.
