State: 382 more virus cases in UP, 44 added in Dickinson
Menominee has 42 new positives; 38 in Marinette County
State data Friday showed 382 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Wednesday, including 44 cases in Dickinson County and 42 in Menominee County.
Across the border in Wisconsin, Marinette County had 38 more confirmed positives Friday.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Friday listed 93 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Marquette County alone since Wednesday, along with 54 in Delta County, the 44 in Dickinson County and 42 in Menominee County, 39 in Houghton County, 24 in Chippewa County, 22 in Mackinac County, 16 in Schoolcraft County, 15 in Alger County, 11 in Iron County, eight in Luce and Gogebic counties, three in Keweenaw County, two in Baraga County and one in Ontonagon County. The state posted five more deaths in the U.P. blamed on COVID-19, two in Chippewa County and one apiece in Delta, Houghton and Gogebic counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 24,808 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 480 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 182 confirmed cases and 35 probable, and three confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 275 confirmed cases and 332 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 463 confirmed, 268 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 483 confirmed cases and 154 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 507 confirmed, 63 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 697 confirmed cases and 363 probable, six deaths; Baraga County, 853 confirmed cases, 148 probable and 41 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 1,173 confirmed cases and 107 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,259 confirmed cases and 375 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,373 confirmed cases and 1,871 probable, and 33 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 2,304 confirmed cases, 620 probable and 44 deaths, four probable; Dickinson County, 2,848 confirmed cases and 750 probable, 60 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,923 confirmed cases, 653 probable, 43 deaths and nine probable; Delta County, 4,277 confirmed cases and 928 probable, 82 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,191 confirmed cases, 1,124 probable and 69 deaths, one probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Friday had 8,058 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Wednesday, or an average of 4,029 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,030,633. The state Friday added 79 deaths attributed to the virus — including 42 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 21,077.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had the 38 more confirmed positives in Marinette County, 19 in Forest County, 15 in Vilas County, three in Iron County and two in Florence County.
The DHS data site Friday had Marinette County with 5,023 confirmed cases, 850 probable cases and 69 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,672 confirmed, 165 probable and 47 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 1,296 confirmed, 99 probable and 27 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 676 confirmed, 139 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 488 confirmed, 82 probable and 13 deaths.
Wisconsin data showed 3,372 more positives Friday for a total of 730,379 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state Friday recorded 12 more virus-related deaths to reach 8,009.
