State lists 308 more virus cases in UP over past 3 days
State data Monday showed 308 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday, including 30 more cases in Menominee County, 19 in Dickinson County and 11 in Iron County.
Across the border in Wisconsin, Marinette County added 31 confirmed positives in the past three days.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday listed for the Upper Peninsula since Friday 73 confirmed positives in Marquette County, 56 in Delta County, 33 in Houghton County, 30 in Menominee County, 24 in Chippewa County, 19 in Dickinson County, 16 in Mackinac County, 12 in Schoolcraft County, 11 in Iron County, 10 in Alger County, nine in Gogebic County, six in Baraga County, five in Keweenaw County and two each in Luce and Ontonagon counties. The state also recorded a single new virus-related death in both Delta and Marquette counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 25,116 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 482 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Monday had Keweenaw County at 187 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and three confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 277 confirmed cases and 339 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 473 confirmed, 268 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 495 confirmed cases and 173 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 509 confirmed, 63 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 713 confirmed cases and 365 probable, six deaths; Baraga County, 859 confirmed cases, 148 probable and 41 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 1,184 confirmed cases and 107 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,268 confirmed cases and 375 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,397 confirmed cases and 1,886 probable, and 33 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 2,334 confirmed cases, 648 probable and 44 deaths, four probable; Dickinson County, 2,867 confirmed cases and 755 probable, 60 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,956 confirmed cases, 660 probable, 43 deaths and nine probable; Delta County, 4,333 confirmed cases and 939 probable, 83 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,264 confirmed cases, 1,141 probable and 70 deaths, one probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Monday had 8,704 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 2,901 per day for the three days, for a total to date of 1,039,337. The state Monday added 62 deaths attributed to the virus — including 19 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 21,139.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had since Friday the 31 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 21 in Vilas County, 17 in Forest County, three in Iron County and two in Florence County.
The DHS data site Monday had Marinette County with 5,054 confirmed cases, 858 probable cases and 69 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,693 confirmed, 165 probable and 47 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 1,313 confirmed, 102 probable and 27 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 679 confirmed, 140 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 490 confirmed, 84 probable and 13 deaths.
Wisconsin data Monday showed 6,006 more positives over the past three days for a total of 736,385 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state Monday recorded 32 more virus-related deaths since Friday to reach 8,041.
