A successful hunt in Iron County

Scott Olejniczak, center, of Green Bay, Wis., talks with Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Ryan McGillviray, left, an acting wildlife biologist, and ranger Conner Smith while checking in two eight-point white-tailed bucks he harvested on his family property near Alpha at the DNR deer check station in Norway. Olejniczak said he took one of the bucks Nov. 17, the other Nov. 19. Wisconsin’s nine-day gun deer season ends Sunday, while Michigan’s firearm season extends through Tuesday. Successful hunters in Michigan and Wisconsin are encouraged to send photos and information to news@ironmountaindailynews.com for the annual Trophy Buck special section that will be published Dec. 9. Photos will be accepted through Monday, Dec. 6. (Dennis Mansfield/Daily News photo)
