State: 17 new virus cases in Dickinson, 8 in Iron
State data Friday showed 17 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and 21 in Menominee County in the two previous days.
Across the border in Wisconsin, Marinette County added 45 confirmed cases since Wednesday, according to that state’s data site.
For the Upper Peninsula, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Friday indicated 310 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the two-day span: 84 in Houghton County, 56 in Marquette County, 44 in Delta County, 21 in Menominee and Chippewa counties, 17 in Dickinson County, 16 in Gogebic County, 15 in Baraga County, 11 in Luce County, eight in Iron County, five in Schoolcraft and Ontonagon counties, three in Alger County and two in Mackinac and Keweenaw counties. The state posted new deaths in Iron, Gogebic, Keweenaw and Mackinac counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 28,381 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 527 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 228 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 356 confirmed cases and 386 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 554 confirmed, 64 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 555 confirmed, 296 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 607 confirmed cases and 209 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 865 confirmed cases and 436 probable, 11 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,019 confirmed cases, 151 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,318 confirmed cases and 121 probable, 47 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,422 confirmed cases and 409 probable, 25 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,584 confirmed cases and 2,256 probable, and 43 deaths, nine probable; Menominee County, 2,573 confirmed cases, 810 probable and 46 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,086 confirmed cases and 949 probable, 65 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 3,491 confirmed cases, 720 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,793 confirmed cases and 1,060 probable, 87 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,930 confirmed cases, 1,318 probable and 77 deaths, four probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Friday had 8,078 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Wednesday, or an average of 4,039 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,128,435. The state Friday added 122 deaths attributed to the virus — including 64 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 22,182.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had the 45 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, plus seven in Vilas County, two in Iron County and one each in Florence and Forest counties.
The DHS data site Friday had Marinette County with 5,847 confirmed cases, 1,087 probable cases and 71 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,952 confirmed, 168 probable and 50 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,417 confirmed, 111 probable and 27 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 730 confirmed, 172 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 542 confirmed, 110 probable and 14 deaths.
Wisconsin data Friday showed 2,238 more positives in the state for a total of 790,282 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 24 more virus-related deaths to reach 8,483.
