State: 22 more COVID cases, new death in Iron
State data Monday showed 22 more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County since Friday, along with another death blamed on the virus.
It was twice the 11 new coronavirus cases recorded for Dickinson County in the past three days, according to figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website.
Across the border, Wisconsin data listed 42 new confirmed coronavirus cases in Marinette County since Friday.
In the Upper Peninsula, figures on the MDHHS coronavirus website Monday indicated 284 new confirmed COVID-19 positives since Friday: 52 in Marquette County, 50 in Houghton County, 35 in Delta County, 26 in Menominee County, 24 in Chippewa County, 22 in Iron County, 15 in Schoolcraft County, 12 in Baraga County, 11 in Dickinson and Keweenaw counties, eight in Gogebic and Mackinac counties, five in Ontonagon County, four in Alger County, and one in Luce County. The state added virus-related deaths in Iron, Menominee and Delta counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 29,488 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 537 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Monday had Keweenaw County at 252 confirmed cases and 37 probable, and four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 367 confirmed cases and 401 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 573 confirmed, 307 probable and four deaths, five probable; Ontonagon County, 581 confirmed, 70 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 650 confirmed cases and 232 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 899 confirmed cases and 450 probable, 11 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,077 confirmed cases, 174 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,379 confirmed cases and 130 probable, 48 deaths and 11 probable; Gogebic County, 1,461 confirmed cases and 413 probable, 25 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,649 confirmed cases and 2,341 probable, and 43 deaths, nine probable; Menominee County, 2,651 confirmed cases, 861 probable and 47 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,145 confirmed cases and 999 probable, 67 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 3,690 confirmed cases, 769 probable, 46 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,950 confirmed cases and 1,092 probable, 92 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 6,164 confirmed cases, 1,377 probable and 77 deaths, four probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Monday had 8,911 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 2,970 for the three-day period, for a total to date of 1,166,517. The state since Friday has added 47 deaths attributed to the virus — including 21 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 22,521.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had the 42 more confirmed positives in Marinette County, 12 in Vilas County, and two each in Forest and Iron counties; Florence County’s count was reduced by one.
The DHS data site Monday had Marinette County with 6,111 confirmed cases, 1,173 probable cases and 72 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 3,023 confirmed, 171 probable and 53 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,437 confirmed, 115 probable and 28 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 743 confirmed, 177 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 547 confirmed, 114 probable and 14 deaths.
Wisconsin data Monday showed 4,968 more positives in the state since Friday for a total of 809,840 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 30 more virus-related deaths in the three-day period to reach 8,627.
