State lists 24 new virus cases in Iron, 20 in Dickinson

State data Monday showed 24 new COVID-19 positives in Iron County and 20 in Dickinson County in the past three days.

Figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday indicated 312 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 71 in Houghton County, 61 in Marquette County, 36 in Delta County, 26 in Gogebic County, 24 in Iron County, 20 in Dickinson County, 19 in Menominee and Chippewa counties, nine in Keweenaw County, seven in Mackinac County, six in Alger County, five in Baraga County, four in Schoolcraft and Luce counties, and one in Ontonagon County. The state recorded two more deaths in Delta County and one each in Marquette, Chippewa, Keweenaw and Gogebic counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 31,679 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 565 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 303 confirmed cases and 41 probable, and seven confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 397 confirmed cases and 434 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 603 confirmed, 78 probable and 22 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 614 confirmed, 339 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 697 confirmed cases and 271 probable, five deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 948 confirmed cases and 492 probable, 13 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,154 confirmed cases, 203 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,485 confirmed cases and 164 probable, 51 deaths and 11 probable; Gogebic County, 1,598 confirmed cases and 418 probable, 27 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,805 confirmed cases and 2,550 probable, and 44 deaths, 10 probable; Menominee County, 2,791 confirmed cases, 967 probable and 47 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,287 confirmed cases and 1,176 probable, 68 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 4,203 confirmed cases, 824 probable, 49 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,253 confirmed cases and 1,182 probable, 97 deaths and 20 probable; and Marquette County, 6,541 confirmed cases, 1,451 probable and 83 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS has had 17,008 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 5,669 per day for the three-day period, for a total to date of 1,259,261. The state since Friday has added 83 deaths attributed to the virus — including 32 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 23,315.

The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It will not update figures this Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had 33 new confirmed positives in Vilas County, 26 in Marinette County, 13 in Forest County and six in Iron County.

The DHS data site Monday had Marinette County with 6,547 confirmed cases, 1,259 probable cases and 72 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 3,186 confirmed, 175 probable and 56 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,510 confirmed, 124 probable and 29 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 756 confirmed, 184 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 571 confirmed, 122 probable and 14 deaths.

Wisconsin data Monday showed 7,113 more positives in the state since Friday for a total of 851,725 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 12 more virus-related deaths in the three-day period to reach 8,860.
