State lists 36 new COVID cases, one more death in Dickinson
State data Wednesday showed another Dickinson County death blamed on COVID-19, along with 36 new confirmed coronavirus positives in the past two days.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website also listed 19 new confirmed positives in Iron County since Monday.
In Wisconsin, that state’s COVID-19 website added 112 new confirmed cases in Marinette County in the two-day span.
Figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday indicated 368 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 71 in Houghton County, 59 in Marquette County, 54 in Delta County, 36 in Dickinson County, 25 in Chippewa County, 24 in Menominee County, 22 in Gogebic County, 19 in Iron County, 17 in Baraga County, 12 in Schoolcraft County, eight in Mackinac County, seven in Alger and Keweenaw counties, four in Luce County, three in Ontonagon County. The state recorded two more virus-related deaths in Delta County and one each in Dickinson, Marquette, Houghton, Keweenaw and Gogebic counties; Menominee County’s death toll was reduced by one.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 30,961 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 556 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 286 confirmed cases and 40 probable, and six confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 387 confirmed cases and 424 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 599 confirmed, 78 probable and 22 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 600 confirmed, 329 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 687 confirmed cases and 261 probable, five deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 932 confirmed cases and 480 probable, 13 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,133 confirmed cases, 201 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,447 confirmed cases and 152 probable, 50 deaths and 11 probable; Gogebic County, 1,543 confirmed cases and 414 probable, 26 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,759 confirmed cases and 2,484 probable, and 43 deaths, 10 probable; Menominee County, 2,744 confirmed cases, 935 probable and 47 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,246 confirmed cases and 1,127 probable, 68 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 4,017 confirmed cases, 801 probable, 48 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,154 confirmed cases and 1,158 probable, 94 deaths and 20 probable; and Marquette County, 6,427 confirmed cases, 1,424 probable and 82 deaths, four probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS has had 14,561 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 7,281 per day for the two-day period, for a total to date of 1,224,273. The state since Monday has added 242 deaths attributed to the virus — including 177 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 23,104.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had the 112 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 28 in Vilas County, 19 in Forest County, 14 in Florence County and two in Iron County.
The DHS data site Wednesday had Marinette County with 6,460 confirmed cases, 1,241 probable cases and 72 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 3,118 confirmed, 175 probable and 56 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,478 confirmed, 125 probable and 29 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 751 confirmed, 183 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 568 confirmed, 119 probable and 14 deaths.
Wisconsin data Wednesday showed 7,535 more positives in the state since Monday for a total of 837,418 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 65 more virus-related deaths in the two-day period to reach 8,812.
