State shows two more COVID deaths in Dickinson

State data Wednesday listed two more deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Dickinson County, along with adding 25 confirmed positives in the past two days.

Iron County had 20 new confirmed cases since Monday, according to figures on Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday.

Across the border, Wisconsin’s coronavirus data showed 102 new confirmed positives in Marinette County over the two-day span.

For Michigan, figures on the MDHHS COVID-19 website Wednesday indicated 316 new confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 77 in Marquette County, 52 in Houghton County, 37 in Delta County, 25 in Dickinson County, 22 in Menominee County, 20 in Iron County, 15 in Schoolcraft County, 14 in Baraga and Gogebic counties, 11 in Mackinac County, 10 in Chippewa County, six in Keweenaw County, five in Luce County, and four each in Ontonagon and Alger counties. The state listed two new virus-related deaths in both Dickinson and Delta counties, and one in Houghton County.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 28,925 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 534 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 236 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 363 confirmed cases and 389 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Alger County, 562 confirmed, 300 probable and four deaths, five probable; Ontonagon County, 563 confirmed, 65 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 627 confirmed cases and 215 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 883 confirmed cases and 443 probable, 11 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,039 confirmed cases, 164 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,349 confirmed cases and 127 probable, 47 deaths and 11 probable; Gogebic County, 1,446 confirmed cases and 410 probable, 25 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,609 confirmed cases and 2,293 probable, and 43 deaths, nine probable; Menominee County, 2,612 confirmed cases, 828 probable and 46 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,119 confirmed cases and 978 probable, 67 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 3,582 confirmed cases, 759 probable, 46 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,883 confirmed cases and 1,080 probable, 91 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 6,052 confirmed cases, 1,356 probable and 77 deaths, four probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Wednesday had 9,764 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 4,882 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,147,512. The state Wednesday added 137 deaths blamed on the virus — including 75 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 22,384.

The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had the 102 confirmed positives in Marinette County; 14 in Vilas County, along with a new death; eight in Forest County; six in Iron County; and three in Florence County.

The DHS data site Wednesday had Marinette County with 5,973 confirmed cases, 1,131 probable cases and 71 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,989 confirmed, 168 probable and 53 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,429 confirmed, 111 probable and 28 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 739 confirmed, 174 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 546 confirmed, 110 probable and 14 deaths.

Wisconsin data Wednesday showed 4,641 more positives in the state since Monday for a total of 799,174 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 59 more virus-related deaths in the past two days to reach 8,554.
