DIDHD: 4 more virus deaths in Dickinson in week’s time

Local data Thursday showed Dickinson County in the past week added four deaths blamed on COVID-19 along with 66 new confirmed positives, while Iron County had 41 new coronavirus cases.

Dickinson County also has had 53 probable coronavirus positives since Dec. 9, according to the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department.

In addition, Dickinson County in that seven-day period had 208 people reclassified as recovered from the virus, while Iron County had 77 recovered cases, the DIDHD listed in its Facebook post Thursday.

The DIDHD had Dickinson County at 3,588 confirmed positives and 1,373 probable cases to date, with 4,290 recovered, 93 deaths and 578 cases still active. For Iron County, the agency had 1,640 confirmed cases and 193 probables, with 1,539 recovered, 69 deaths and 225 active cases.

The Upper Peninsula as of Thursday had 69 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 26 adults in intensive care and seven on ventilators, according to Frontline UPdates JIC, a group of health care communication professionals from the U.P.

Statewide Thursday, 4,255 adults were hospitalized with COVID-19 — plus 59 pediatric patients — with 1,003 adults in ICU beds and 639 on ventilators.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Thursday had 25 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 18 in Vilas County, four in Iron County, two in Forest County and one in Florence County. The state recorded two more deaths in Marinette County.

The DHS data site Thursday had Marinette County with 7,149 confirmed cases, 1,415 probable cases and 79 deaths, 10 probable deaths; Vilas County, 3,402 confirmed, 187 probable and 61 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,707 confirmed, 146 probable and 37 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 819 confirmed, 209 probable and 23 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 609 confirmed, 158 probable and 14 deaths.

Wisconsin data Thursday showed 4,661 more positives in the state since Wednesday for a total of 932,773 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 58 more virus-related deaths Thursday to reach 9,547.
