DIDHD: Four more virus deaths in Iron County

Local data Thursday showed Dickinson County has had 109 new confirmed COVID-19 positives and a virus-related death in the past eight days, while Iron County had four more deaths and 57 new coronavirus cases.

Dickinson County also has had 64 probable coronavirus positives since Nov. 24 and Iron County 13 probables, according to the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department.

Dickinson County in that eight-day period had 80 people reclassified as recovered from the virus, while Iron County had 38 recovered cases, the DIDHD listed in its Facebook post Thursday.

The DIDHD had Dickinson County at 3,445 confirmed positives and 1,274 probable cases to date, with 3,976 recovered, 88 deaths and 655 cases still active. For Iron County, the agency had 1,566 confirmed cases and 184 probables, with 1,407 recovered, 66 deaths and 277 active cases.

The Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday had 84 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 25 adults in intensive care and eight on ventilators, according to Frontline UPdates JIC, a group of health care communication professionals from the U.P.

Statewide Wednesday, 4,269 adults were hospitalized with COVID-19 — plus 52 pediatric patients — with 914 adults in ICU beds and 590 on ventilators.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Thursday had 44 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 27 in Forest County, 19 in Vilas County, three in Iron County and one in Florence County.

The DHS data site Thursday had Marinette County with 6,819 confirmed cases, 1,335 probable cases and 73 deaths, nine probable deaths; Vilas County, 3,273 confirmed, 177 probable and 58 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,603 confirmed, 133 probable and 29 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 787 confirmed, 193 probable and 22 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 581 confirmed, 140 probable and 14 deaths.

Wisconsin data showed 5,170 more positives in the state Thursday for a total of 884,784 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 41 more virus-related deaths Thursday to reach 9,093.
