MARINETTE, Wis. -- A 67-year-old Grover, Wis., woman was killed and a 64-year-old Pulaski, Wis., man was seriously injured when a car and semi-truck collided on U.S. 41 early Saturday morning in the town of Grover, said Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.
Kathy Ann Trepanier of Grover was driving a car that entered the highway near the Eagle Express truck stop on Kasal Lane shortly after 5 a.m., coming into the path of a northbound semi-truck pulling a dump trailer loaded with scrap metal.
Trepanier was ejected from the car and later pronounced dead on the site by the Marinette County medical examiner.
Lowell R. Reeck, the Pulaski man who was driving the truck, was trapped inside after the rig overturned, Sauve said. After lengthy extrication efforts, Reeck was freed and taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles.
The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office, Wisconsin State Patrol and the medical examiner.
Assisting were Peshtigo Police and the Grover-Porterfield, Peshtigo and Marinette fire departments, Aurora Bay Area Paramedics, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
This is the ninth traffic fatality in Marinette County in 2021, Sauve said.
