State: 12 new virus cases in Dickinson, 7 in Iron

State data Monday showed a dozen new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County in the past three days while Iron County had only seven more cases.

Figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday indicated 145 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 31 in Delta County, 25 in Marquette County, 16 in Houghton County, 15 in Menominee County, 12 in Dickinson County, 10 in Gogebic County, eight in Chippewa County, seven in Iron and Baraga counties, four in Ontonagon and Mackinac counties, three in Alger County, and one each in Luce, Schoolcraft and Keweenaw counties. The state posted new virus-related deaths in Menominee and Alger counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 35,120 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 635 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 344 confirmed cases and 43 probable, and 10 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 455 confirmed cases and 535 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 654 confirmed, 78 probable and 25 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 679 confirmed, 378 probable and six deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 806 confirmed cases and 366 probable, six deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 1,078 confirmed cases and 574 probable, 17 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,252 confirmed cases, 213 probable and 45 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,645 confirmed cases and 191 probable, 57 deaths and 13 probable; Gogebic County, 1,860 confirmed cases and 428 probable, 33 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 2,036 confirmed cases and 2,889 probable, and 52 deaths, 11 probable; Menominee County, 3,030 confirmed cases, 1,101 probable and 52 deaths, eight probable; Dickinson County, 3,596 confirmed cases and 1,387 probable, 74 deaths and 18 probable; Houghton County, 4,728 confirmed cases, 854 probable, 56 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,724 confirmed cases and 1,284 probable, 109 deaths and 22 probable; and Marquette County, 7,233 confirmed cases, 1,660 probable and 89 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday had 13,999 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 4,666 per day for the three-day period, for a total to date of 1,434,837. The state in that three-day period added 160 deaths attributed to the virus — including 63 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 25,984.

The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had since Friday 20 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, nine in Vilas County, four in Iron County and two in Forest County; Florence County’s count was reduced by one. The state recorded two more deaths in Marinette County.

The DHS data site Monday had Marinette County with 7,194 confirmed cases, 1,425 probable cases and 81 deaths, 12 probable deaths; Vilas County, 3,416 confirmed, 188 probable and 61 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,716 confirmed, 146 probable and 36 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 825 confirmed, 211 probable and 23 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 610 confirmed, 158 probable and 14 deaths.

Wisconsin data Monday showed 6,515 more positives in the state since Friday for a total of 943,355 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 83 more virus-related deaths in the three-day period to reach 9,683.
