State: 16 new virus cases in Dickinson, 11 in Iron
State data Monday showed 16 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County in the past three days, while Iron County had 11 news cases and one more death blamed on the virus.
Figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday indicated 278 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 72 in Marquette County, 45 in Delta County, 43 in Houghton County, 21 in Chippewa County, 19 in Menominee County, 16 in Dickinson and Mackinac counties, 13 in Gogebic County, 11 in Iron County, six in Ontonagon County, five in Baraga County, four in Schoolcraft and Keweenaw counties, two in Luce County, and one in Alger County. The state listed two more deaths in Delta County, and one each in Iron, Menominee, Marquette, Chippewa and Gogebic counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 33,693 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 600 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 337 confirmed cases and 43 probable, and eight confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 421 confirmed cases and 493 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 626 confirmed, 77 probable and 23 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 652 confirmed, 359 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 757 confirmed cases and 324 probable, six deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 1,036 confirmed cases and 536 probable, 15 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,208 confirmed cases, 205 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,580 confirmed cases and 182 probable, 56 deaths and 13 probable; Gogebic County, 1,757 confirmed cases and 425 probable, 27 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,944 confirmed cases and 2,731 probable, and 49 deaths, 10 probable; Menominee County, 2,909 confirmed cases, 1,042 probable and 50 deaths, eight probable; Dickinson County, 3,474 confirmed cases and 1,297 probable, 71 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 4,547 confirmed cases, 841 probable, 51 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,506 confirmed cases and 1,243 probable, 107 deaths and 21 probable; and Marquette County, 6,939 confirmed cases, 1,557 probable and 85 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS had 16,590 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 5,530 per day for the three-day period, for a total to date of 1,353,156. The state since Friday has added 127 deaths attributed to the virus — including 47 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 24,494.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday had no new numbers for the five Wisconsin counties in the region, due to an upgrade of the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System done this past weekend.
