State: 16 new virus positives in Dickinson, six in Iron
State data Friday showed 16 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County in the past two days while Iron County had only six more cases.
Figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Friday indicated 201 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Wednesday: 35 in Delta County; 34 in Marquette County; 25 in Houghton County; 16 in Menominee, Dickinson and Gogebic counties; 10 in Mackinac County; nine in Ontonagon County, eight in Schoolcraft, Chippewa and Luce counties; six in Iron and Baraga counties; three in Alger County; and one in Keweenaw County. The state posted two more virus-related deaths in Gogebic County and one each in Menominee, Marquette, Houghton, Keweenaw and Alger counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 34,975 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 633 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 343 confirmed cases and 43 probable, and 10 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 454 confirmed cases and 529 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 650 confirmed, 77 probable and 25 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 676 confirmed, 375 probable and five deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 805 confirmed cases and 365 probable, six deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 1,074 confirmed cases and 570 probable, 17 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,245 confirmed cases, 213 probable and 45 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,638 confirmed cases and 190 probable, 57 deaths and 13 probable; Gogebic County, 1,850 confirmed cases and 429 probable, 33 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 2,028 confirmed cases and 2,878 probable, and 52 deaths, 11 probable; Menominee County, 3,015 confirmed cases, 1,096 probable and 51 deaths, eight probable; Dickinson County, 3,584 confirmed cases and 1,376 probable, 74 deaths and 18 probable; Houghton County, 4,712 confirmed cases, 855 probable, 56 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,693 confirmed cases and 1,280 probable, 109 deaths and 22 probable; and Marquette County, 7,208 confirmed cases, 1,652 probable and 89 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS had 12,649 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Wednesday, or an average of about 6,325 per day for the two-day period, for a total to date of 1,420,838. The state since Wednesday has added 254 deaths attributed to the virus — including 159 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 25,824.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had 25 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, seven in Forest County, five in Vilas County and two each in Florence and Iron counties. Forest County’s deaths were reduced by one.
The DHS data site Friday had Marinette County with 7,174 confirmed cases, 1,422 probable cases and 79 deaths, 10 probable deaths; Vilas County, 3,407 confirmed, 188 probable and 61 deaths, four probable; Forest County, 1,714 confirmed, 146 probable and 36 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 821 confirmed, 211 probable and 23 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 611 confirmed, 157 probable and 14 deaths.
Wisconsin data Friday showed 4,067 more positives in the state since Thursday for a total of 936,840 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded 53 more virus-related deaths Friday to reach 9,600.
