State posts another virus death in Dickinson

Cases continue to decline across UP

State data Monday showed another death blamed on COVID-19 in Dickinson County, along with 34 new confirmed cases of the virus in the past three days.

Iron County also added 15 confirmed cases, according to figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday

The MDHHS data indicated 322 new confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 95 in Marquette County, 49 in Delta County, 41 in Chippewa County, 40 in Houghton County, 34 in Dickinson County, 21 in Menominee County, 15 in Iron County, seven in Gogebic County, four in Baraga and Keweenaw counties, three in Luce and Alger counties, and two in Schoolcraft, Ontonagon and Mackinac counties. Along with Dickinson County, the state recorded one more virus-related death in Marquette County.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 49,290 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 759 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 442 confirmed cases and 50 probable, and 11 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 630 confirmed cases and 730 probable, seven confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 838 confirmed, 99 probable and 32 deaths, two probable; Alger County, 1,000 confirmed, 647 probable and seven deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,036 confirmed cases and 628 probable, 11 deaths and two probable; Mackinac County, 1,466 confirmed cases and 820 probable, 26 deaths and two probable; Baraga County, 1,656 confirmed cases, 312 probable and 50 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,230 confirmed cases and 324 probable, 66 deaths and 13 probable; Gogebic County, 2,648 confirmed cases and 514 probable, 36 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 3,187 confirmed cases and 4,792 probable, and 72 deaths, 14 probable; Menominee County, 3,735 confirmed cases, 1,634 probable and 59 deaths, nine probable; Dickinson County, 4,862 confirmed cases and 2,315 probable, 82 deaths and 19 probable; Houghton County, 6,487 confirmed cases, 1,055 probable, 73 deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 7,655 confirmed cases and 1,970 probable, 123 deaths and 25 probable; and Marquette County, 11,418 confirmed cases, 2,939 probable and 104 deaths, eight probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday had 9,898 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 3,299 per day for the three-day period, for a total to date of 2,019,119. The state since Friday added 38 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 30,417.

The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Monday had Marinette County at 11,238 COVID-19 positives, up 64 since Friday, and 103 deaths, up one; Vilas County, 5,059 positives, up 32, and 83 deaths; Forest County, 2,591 positives, up 10, and 47 deaths; Iron County, 1,446, up 10, and 45 deaths; and Florence County, 1,036 positives, up three, and 15 deaths.
