Dickinson has three new virus cases, Iron two since Friday

State data Monday showed Dickinson County had only three more confirmed COVID-19 positives and Iron County two new cases since Friday, reflecting a statewide decline in virus activity.

Figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday indicated 64 new confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula over the three-day period: 14 in Chippewa County; 12 in Marquette County; 10 in Houghton County; six in Gogebic County; four in Delta and Ontonagon counties; three in Menominee and Dickinson counties; two in Iron, Mackinac and Alger counties; and one in Schoolcraft and Luce counties. The state again listed no additional virus-related deaths for the region.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 50,660 confirmed cases and 795 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 451 confirmed cases and 53 probable, and 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 647 confirmed cases and 763 probable, eight confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 866 confirmed, 104 probable and 34 deaths, two probable; Alger County, 1,030 confirmed, 658 probable and eight deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,075 confirmed cases and 667 probable, 11 deaths and two probable; Mackinac County, 1,518 confirmed cases and 838 probable, 26 deaths and two probable; Baraga County, 1,696 confirmed cases, 317 probable and 51 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,287 confirmed cases and 338 probable, 69 deaths and 14 probable; Gogebic County, 2,710 confirmed cases and 523 probable, 38 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 3,326 confirmed cases and 5,007 probable, and 78 deaths, 16 probable; Menominee County, 3,853 confirmed cases, 1,686 probable and 60 deaths, nine probable; Dickinson County, 4,965 confirmed cases and 2,378 probable, 85 deaths and 21 probable; Houghton County, 6,618 confirmed cases, 1,076 probable, 77 deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 7,832 confirmed cases and 2,037 probable, 129 deaths and 24 probable; and Marquette County, 11,786 confirmed cases, 3,017 probable and 109 deaths, 10 probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday had 1,860 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of 620 per day for the three-day period, for a total to date of 2,056,751. The state since Friday added 26 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 31,817.

The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Monday had Marinette County at 11,499 COVID-19 positives, up 10 since Friday, and 112 deaths, up two; Vilas County, 5,173 positives, up four, and 85 deaths; Forest County, 2,665 positives, up one, and 50 deaths; Iron County, 1,458 positives, up two, and 46 deaths; and Florence County, 1,074 positives, up one, and 15 deaths.
