State: Only 1 new case of COVID in Dickinson, Iron in 3 days

State data Monday showed only one new confirmed COVID-19 positive both in Dickinson and Iron counties since Friday, as the region continues to see low levels of COVID-19 activity.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday had 47 new confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 14 in Marquette County; seven in Menominee, Houghton and Chippewa counties; four in Baraga County; three in Delta County; and one each in Dickinson, Iron, Luce, Ontonagon and Alger counties. The only virus-related death came in Ontonagon County.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 51,154 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 818 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 451 confirmed cases and 53 probable, and 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 662 confirmed cases and 761 probable, nine confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 871 confirmed, 104 probable and 35 deaths, three probable; Alger County, 1,054 confirmed, 658 probable and eight deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,083 confirmed cases and 666 probable, 14 deaths and three probable; Mackinac County, 1,544 confirmed cases and 835 probable, 27 deaths and two probable; Baraga County, 1,714 confirmed cases, 318 probable and 51 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,306 confirmed cases and 337 probable, 70 deaths and 16 probable; Gogebic County, 2,724 confirmed cases and 521 probable, 39 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 3,387 confirmed cases and 5,056 probable, and 84 deaths, 17 probable; Menominee County, 3,918 confirmed cases, 1,683 probable and 60 deaths, nine probable; Dickinson County, 4,984 confirmed cases and 2,377 probable, 86 deaths and 22 probable; Houghton County, 6,672 confirmed cases, 1,088 probable, 78 deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 7,881 confirmed cases and 2,035 probable, 130 deaths and 24 probable; and Marquette County, 11,903 confirmed cases, 3,023 probable and 115 deaths, 10 probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday had 1,423 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 475 per day for the three-day period, for a total to date of 2,073,010. The state since Friday added eight deaths attributed to the virus to reach 32,619.

The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Monday had Marinette County at 11,555 COVID-19 positives, up three since Friday, and 116 deaths; Vilas County, 5,196 positives, up four, and 88 deaths, up one; Forest County, unchanged at 2,667 positives and 51 deaths; Iron County, unchanged at 1,463 positives and 47 deaths; and Florence County, unchanged at 1,077 positives and 16 deaths.
