State: Only four new COVID cases in Dickinson, one in Iron
State data Monday had only four new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and one in Iron County since Friday.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday added 38 more confirmed positives in the Upper Peninsula for the three-day period: 11 in Marquette County; six in Delta County; five in Chippewa County; four in Dickinson, Menominee and Houghton counties; three in Mackinac County; and one in Iron and Luce counties; Ontonagon County’s count was reduced by one. The state listed one more virus-related death, in Mackinac County.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 50,838 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 803 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 451 confirmed cases and 53 probable, and 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 654 confirmed cases and 766 probable, eight confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 866 confirmed, 104 probable and 34 deaths, two probable; Alger County, 1,038 confirmed, 661 probable and eight deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,075 confirmed cases and 670 probable, 12 deaths and three probable; Mackinac County, 1,531 confirmed cases and 840 probable, 27 deaths and two probable; Baraga County, 1,702 confirmed cases, 318 probable and 51 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,298 confirmed cases and 339 probable, 69 deaths and 16 probable; Gogebic County, 2,717 confirmed cases and 524 probable, 39 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 3,354 confirmed cases and 5,042 probable, and 80 deaths, 16 probable; Menominee County, 3,862 confirmed cases, 1,689 probable and 60 deaths, nine probable; Dickinson County, 4,980 confirmed cases and 2,379 probable, 85 deaths and 21 probable; Houghton County, 6,628 confirmed cases, 1,077 probable, 78 deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 7,852 confirmed cases and 2,042 probable, 129 deaths and 24 probable; and Marquette County, 11,830 confirmed cases, 3,024 probable and 111 deaths, 10 probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Monday had 1,656 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of 552 per day for the three-day period, for a total to date of 2,062,354. The state since Friday added 16 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 32,134.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Monday had Marinette County at 11,508 COVID-19 positives, up three, and 113 deaths since Friday; Vilas County, 5,187 positives, up three, and 87 deaths; Forest County, unchanged at 2,666 positives and 50 deaths; Iron County, 1,460 positives, up two, and 47 deaths; and Florence County, unchanged at 1,075 positives and 15 deaths.
