PEMBINE, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region has a design project website available to view two proposed improvement projects on U.S. 8 and U.S. 141 in Marinette County.
One project is proposed for 8.1 miles of U.S. 8 from just south of County R near Pembine to the Michigan state line. Another project is proposed for 1.4 miles of U.S.141 from the intersection with U.S. 8 to Betters Court in the city of Niagara.

Project staff will share proposed improvement details, maps, displays, exhibits and discuss information for businesses impacted by highway projects. The US 8 project is a resurfacing-level improvement to extend the service life of the highway and improve the riding surface. Work also includes an underseal to mitigate winter tenting of pavement, widening existing shoulders, centerline and shoulder rumble strips, beamguard and pavement marking.

Both projects are currently scheduled for construction in 2026, but could be advanced should funding become available. Work is currently proposed to be completed with the highways open to traffic using lane closures and flagging operations.
