FELCH TOWNSHIP — One person died after a vehicle rolled several times and struck a home on County Road 581 in Felch Township late Saturday, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.

A 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was northbound on Country Road 581 near Wickman Marsh Road about 10:38 p.m. Saturday when it went off the west side and rolled, then collided with the home at N8117 County Road 581, the sheriff’s department stated in a news release.

The driver, who was alone, was trapped and had to be extricated.

The driver was taken by Valley Med Flight to UP Health System-Marquette, where the person later died, according to the sheriff’s department.

Authorities did not release a name or other information about the driver. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the fatal crash, according to the sheriff’s department.

The home that was hit had a single occupant who was not injured. The structure itself has severe damage.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Nordic Ambulance, Integrity Care EMS, Felch Township Fire Department, Valley Med Flight and the Michigan State Police.
