Local data: 5 confirmed virus cases in Iron, none in Dickinson
Local data Thursday reported five new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County but none in Dickinson County in the past seven days, as the area continues to reflect a greatly diminished level of coronavirus activity compared with the beginning of 2022.
Dickinson County did have eight probable virus cases in the week’s span, according to figures posted Thursday on the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department’s Facebook page. The county’s death toll blamed on the virus was reduced by one, after an earlier death was transferred to another jurisdiction, the DIDHD stated.
Dickinson County also had three people reclassified as recovered from the virus since the last local update April 14, while Iron County had one recovery.
The DIDHD on Thursday had Dickinson County at 5,003 confirmed positives and 2,392 probable cases to date, with 7,261 recovered, 109 deaths and 25 cases still active. For Iron County, the agency had 2,321 confirmed cases to date and 338 probables, with 2,563 recovered, 86 deaths and 10 active cases.
The DIDHD updates its COVID-19 figures once a week, usually on Thursdays.
For the five Wisconsin counties in the region, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Thursday had Marinette County at 11,623 COVID-19 positives, up seven since Wednesday, and 123 deaths; Vilas County, 5,222 positives, up two, and 89 deaths; Forest County, 2,678 positives, up three, and 52 deaths, up one; Iron County, unchanged at 1,469 positives and 47 deaths; and Florence County, unchanged at 1,081 positives and 16 deaths.
