Dickinson prosecutor details April office activity
IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa M. Richards has released her department’s activity report for April.
The office received 73 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
From those reports, the office authorized 16 felony and 38 misdemeanor warrants. There were 22 warrant requests reviewed and denied and two were resubmitted to the investigating agency with a request for further investigation to be completed.
Warrants authorized included 12 for domestic violence and assault-related offenses, 17 for alcohol offenses, seven for theft or property-related offenses, three for drug offenses, 20 for traffic offenses, one for criminal sexual conduct, one for carrying a concealed weapon, one for prohibited use of a chemical agent, one for child abuse, one for indecent exposure and one for firearms-related offenses.
The office also drafted and submitted three juvenile delinquency petitions to the probate court.
During the month, the office had 17 preliminary examinations resulting in eight defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, 15 circuit court sentencing hearings, 17 circuit court pre-trial conferences, 13 circuit court arraignments, and one circuit court jury trial and conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The office also conducted numerous motion hearings, probation violation hearings, show cause hearings and other miscellaneous hearings in the district, probate and circuit courts.
