Kingsford names 2022 top seniors

NICHOLAS ABRAHAM

KINGSFORD — The Breitung Township School District has announced the top 10% of the Kingsford High School Class of 2022.

Graduation ceremonies will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Flivver Field.

Those making the top 10% list had grade-point averages of 4.063 to 4.194. They are:

— Nick Abraham is the son of Jess and Chris Abraham.

He has participated in football, soccer, Key Club and National Honor Society.

EMMA BILGREEN

His honors include Top 10% junior and senior class, 2020-21 AP Chemistry Student of the Year, Academic Letter and Bar.

Abraham plans to study computer science and game development at Michigan Technological University.

— Emma Bilgreen is the daughter of Bruce and Kathryn Bilgreen.

She has participated in Quiz Bowl, Key Club, Pep Band, French Club and National Honor Society.

Her honors include honor roll from ninth through 12th grade, and Academic Letter and Bar.

SAMANTHA DORAN

Bilgreen plans to study biology at the University of Michigan.

— Samantha Doran is the daughter of Brian and Tina Doran.

She has participated in student council, including as secretary; Quiz Bowl; Key Club; volleyball, cross country, softball and golf; National Honor Society, including president/treasurer; and robotics.

Her honors include all A’s for four consecutive semesters, Economic Student of the Year, Academic Letter and Bar, honor roll from ninth through 12th grade, Washington Youth Summit on Environment program 2020.

Doran plans to attend the University of Michigan for pre-med with minor in Spanish language, literature and culture.

ELIZABETH EARLY

— Elizabeth Early is the daughter of Josh and Elizabeth Early.

She has participated in Key Club,robotics, Quiz Bowl, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, jazz band, jazz combo, pep band, and Solo and Ensemble.

Her honors include Academic Letter and Bar, Society of Women Engineers Award and honor roll.

Early plans to study biomedical engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

— Zoie Geronimi is the daughter of Amy Geronimi.

ZOIE GERONIMI

She has participated in volleyball, basketball and softball; student council, SADD and National Honor Society, including as president; junior and senior class secretary; Kingsford Kick Start to College Founder; and BTS Publications Committee.

Her honors include AP Scholar, All A’s from ninth through 12th grade, Academic Letter and Bar, 400-plus Community Service Volunteer hours, U.S. Presidential Scholars Program candidate, All-Conference 1st Baseman, All-District 1st Baseman, Questbridge College Prep Scholar, National College Match Scholarship recipient, and GNC Honorable Mention for basketball.

Geronimi plans to attend Columbia University to double major in history and English for pre-law.

— Dalton Lawler is the son of Timothy and Nicki Lawler.

He has participated in pep band, marching band, jazz band, French Club, honor’s band and MOTOR.

DALTON LAWLER

His honors include honor roll, Academic Letter and Bar, Solo and Ensemble Best Ranking.

Lawler plans to study computer science at Michigan Technological University.

— Magdalaina Menghini is the daughter of Paul and Melissa Menghini.

She has participated in tennis, swimming and golf; Academic Booster Club; SADD; IM/K Youth Advisory Committee; Key Club; and National Honors Society.

Her honors include Academic Letter and Bar.

Menghini plans to attend Benedictine College.

— Michael Occhietti is the son of Michael and Maria Occhietti.

He has participated in band, pep band and jazz band; Key Club and tennis and track.

His honors include Academic Letter and Bar.

Occhietti plans to study veterinary medicine at Michigan State University.

— Jenna Olkkonen is the daughter of Daniel and Janelle Olkkonen.

She has participated in volleyball and basketball, and was tennis team captain.

Her honors include Academic Letter and Bar and honor roll.

Olkkonen plans to study mechanical engineering at Central Michigan University.

— Samantha Scott is the daughter of Kevin and Cindi Scott.

She has participated in swim team, National Honor Society, Key Club, Academic Booster Club and Youth Advisory Committee.

Her honors include Academic Letter and Bar, highest-points earner in the KHS swim team history, All U.P. Swim and Dive team, Swim relay team member of one team record, Swim MVP, Swim Rookie of the Year

Scott plans to study engineering at University of Michigan.

— Sydney Scott is the daughter of Kevin and Cindi Scott.

She has participated in swim team co-captain, cross country, National Honor Society, band, Key Club and Academic Booster Club.

Her honors include Academic Letter and Bar, Swim Team second-highest points earner in KHS Swim team history, All U.P. Swim and Dive team, Swim relay team member with four team records, Swim MVP and Swim Rookie of the Year.

She plans to study engineering at the University of Michigan.

— Abby Terrian is the daughter of Steve and Monica Terrian.

She has participated in volleyball, basketball, softball, SADD, Key Club, National Honor Society and student council.

Her honors include Academic Letter and Bar, Advanced Placement U.S. History Student of the Month, Junior Top 10%, Volleyball GNC All-Conference 1st team, Volleyball All-Region team and Basketball GNC All-Conference 2nd team.

Terrian plans to study human biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

— Toby Wilcox is the son of Chris and Diane Wilcox.

He has participated in football and wrestling.

His honors include AP Calculus Student of the Year, Academic Letter and Bar, Student of the Month, All-Conference running back, U.P. All Star Game, three-time wrestling state qualifier with a seventh place at state wrestling, and U.P. wrestling championship.

Wilcox plans to study software engineering at the University of Michigan.
