Norway names top seniors for graduating Class of 2022

MACKENZIE GILROY

NORWAY — The Norway-Vulcan School District has announced the top seniors from the Norway High School Class of 2022.

Graduation ceremonies were Friday evening in the Fine Arts Center.

The top students are:

— Mackenzie Gilroy is the daughter of Jodie and Jeff Gilroy. Gilroy was senior class secretary and a member of the student council, National Honor Society, Key Club, Youth Advisory Committee, LEO Club, Quiz Bowl team and Robotics Club. She participated in JV volleyball, varsity tennis, swim team and softball. Gilroy plans to major in biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan.

— Drew Edward Anderson is the son of Dan and Deana Anderson. Anderson was student council president and a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and Youth Advisory Committee. He participated in golf, basketball and cross country. Anderson plans to major in applied engineering sciences at Michigan State University.

DREW ANDERSON

— Karly Masselink is the daughter of Kristin and Paul Masselink. Masselink was senior class treasurer, on the student council and had roles as the Youth Advisory Committee president and Key Club webmaster. She was a member of the Spanish club, LEO Club and the National Honor Society. She also was a competitive dancer through the Dance Academy of Michigan. Masselink plans to attend the University of Michigan.

— Gabrielle Bridget Leiker is the daughter of Jacqueline and Benjamin Leiker. Leiker was senior class vice president and a member of the student council, National Honor Society, Key Club, Youth Advisory Committee and LEO Club. She participated as well in softball, swim team, tennis, track, volleyball and basketball. Leiker plans to major in public health at the University of Michigan.

— Ethan Robert LeGrave is the son of Stacey and Kim LeGrave. LeGrave challenged himself academically in high school, attending college classes. He successfully completed several advanced science courses at Bay College in Escanaba. He was a member of the Spanish Club as well as a volunteer for the Red Cross blood drives. LeGrave plans to major in chemical engineering at Michigan Technological University.

— Tyler Evance Parker is the son of Chuck Parker and Tabitha Parker. Parker was a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, Key Club and Robotics Club. He participated in JV football, basketball and varsity golf as well as being an active member of Yooper Scoopers and Big Shooters 4-H Clubs throughout high school. Parker plans to major in chemical engineering at Michigan Technological University.

— Kali Stanchina is the daughter of James and Amy Stanchina. Stanchina was a member of student council and Youth Advisory Committee along with serving as LEO Club vice president and Key Club secretary. She also participated in softball, tennis, basketball, volleyball and 906 Fastpitch travel softball. She was a volunteer at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital as well. Stanchina plans to major in physical therapy and play softball at Bay de Noc Community College.
