Road project starts today in Baraga County

MARQUETTE — The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing about $4.3 million to resurface 7.5 miles of U.S. 41/M-28 from east of the M-28/U.S. 141 intersection to the east end of the passing lane section near the Tioga Roadside Park in Covington Township, Baraga County.

The project includes asphalt resurfacing, crushing and shaping of shoulders, drainage improvements, guardrail, new signs, and pavement markings. This work will extend the lifespan of the roadway and result in a smoother driving surface and increased safety for motorists.

The project starts today and is expected to be completed Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Motorists should prepare for intermittent single-lane closures using traffic regulators throughout the project.
