Candidate forum for new 109th District set for Thursday in Marquette

MARQUETTE – Primary candidates running to represent the new 109th Michigan House District will be answering citizens’ questions at the League of Women Voters forum on Thursday at Marquette Township Community Hall, 1000 Commerce Dr., Marquette.

The forum is from 6 to 8 p.m. Eastern time, with doors opening at 5:30.

Two Democrats, Joe Boogren and Jenn Hill, and one Republican, Melody Wagner will participate. The other Republican candidate, Ron Gray, was invited and has declined.

The eastern three-fourths of Dickinson County is part of the new 109th District. The incumbent Rep. Sara Cambensy, R-Marquette, is unable to seek reelection due to term limits.

The in-person forum will also be live-streamed by Northern Michigan University to its YouTube channel. Anyone can tune in by entering this address in their search engine: https:/bit.ly/nmuavstreaming, and clicking on “LWVMC Primary Candidate Forum for 109th Mich House District”.
