Back to school: Area classes in UP start this week, Wisconsin next week

And so it arrives — the 2022-23 school year, at least for some school districts in the region.
All Michigan schools in The Daily News’ coverage area were set to start this week.
Wisconsin schools won’t open until next week.
Some details about 2022-23 calendars for area schools:
— North Dickinson County Schools in Felch Township began classes Monday. But school will not be in session this Friday and Sept. 2, or Labor Day on Sept. 5. Other single days off include Nov. 15 and Feb. 20. Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 24 and 25. The holiday break for students is Dec. 22 until Jan. 2. Spring break is set for April 3-7, with classes back in session April 10. Graduation is May 12. The final day for students will be May 24.
— Iron Mountain Public Schools will open Wednesday. Classes will not meet Sept. 2 and 5 for the Labor Day holiday weekend. Single days off include Oct. 14, Jan. 18, Feb. 13 and March 15. Thanksgiving holiday starts with a half-day Nov. 23 and then no school until Nov. 28. Winter break will be Dec. 19 to Jan. 2. Spring break is set for April 3-10. Graduation will be May 26, which also is the final day of classes.
— Breitung Township Schools in Kingsford begin classes Wednesday. Classes will not be in session Sept. 2 and 5 for Labor Day. Single days off are Oct. 14, Nov. 15, Feb. 13 and Feb. 20. Thanksgiving holiday starts with early dismissal Nov. 23 and then no school until Nov. 28. Winter break will be Dec. 19 to Jan. 2. Spring break is set for April 3-11. Last day is June 2.
— Norway-Vulcan Area Schools in Norway will start Wednesday. No other information was available about the district’s calendar.
— Forest Park School District in Crystal Falls begins classes Wednesday. School will not be in session for the Labor Day weekend from Sept. 1 through Sept. 5. Single days off are set for Oct. 7, Feb. 13 and March 20. Thanksgiving week will have a half-day of school Nov. 21 and the rest of the week off until Nov. 28. Winter break will be Dec. 19 to Jan. 2. Spring break has a half-day March 31, then extends through April 10. The Memorial Day weekend will have a half-day May 26 and then a full day off May 29. Graduation is May 27. The last school day is June 1.
— Classes in West Iron County Public Schools in Iron River start Wednesday. Labor Day weekend will be Sept. 2-5. Other days off include Feb. 13 and May 29. Thanksgiving break is Nov. 21-25. Christmas break starts Dec. 19 and ends Jan. 2. Spring break is April 3-7. The school year will end June 2.
— North Central Area Schools in Powers will open for students with a half-day Thursday. Classes will be out Sept. 2 and 5 for Labor Day. Other days off include Oct. 15, Nov. 14-15, Jan. 20 and May 29 for Memorial Day. Feb. 13 and March 24 are built in as “snow days.” Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 23-25, with only a half-day on Nov. 22. Winter break is set for Dec. 23 until Jan. 3. Spring break will be March 27 through 31. Graduation is May 19. The last day for students is June 2 with a noon release.
— Niagara School District in Niagara, Wis., starts classes Monday, Aug. 29. Labor Day break will be Sept. 2-5. Single days off are set for Oct. 21 and Jan. 20. Thanksgiving break is Nov. 24 and 25, with early release on Nov. 23. Winter break is Dec. 23 until Jan. 3. Spring break is April 3-10. Graduation is May 19. The last day of school for students is May 25, with May 26 a half-day for staff.
— Florence County School classes in Florence, Wis., begin Sept. 1, a Thursday. Single days off include Labor Day on Sept. 5, Jan. 23 for students, Feb. 17 and Memorial Day on May 29. Thanksgiving break is Nov. 21-28. Christmas break is Dec. 23 until Jan. 2. Spring break is April 3-7. Graduation is May 26. Final day of classes is June 6.
