IC man suspect in 2nd homicide
CALEB ANDERSON
GREEN BAY, Wis. — An Iron County man suspected in a Green Bay, Wis., murder who was arrested Wednesday in Alabama is being investigated for a homicide in that state as well, authorities said Thursday.
Caleb Anderson is being housed in the Shelby County Jail in Alabama, WBAY-TV in Green Bay reported.
He is also suspected of assaulting an 18-year-old woman who was jogging in Gaastra in Iron County early Monday. She fought off the attacker, who was unknown to her, and escaped.
Anderson became the subject of a manhunt after the discovery of a body Tuesday morning at Mission Hill Apartments in Green Bay, across the street from Southwest High School. Police initially thought Anderson, believed to be operating the victim’s vehicle, might go to the Upper Peninsula. Then the car was spotted in the Greenville, Alabama, area.
Anderson was arrested by U.S. marshals in Helena, Alabama, on Wednesday afternoon and the victim’s vehicle was also recovered.
On Thursday, the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain post stated that Anderson “is being investigated as a suspect in a second homicide and arson. He will face charges in Alabama and Wisconsin before any extradition to Michigan can occur.”
Details of the Alabama homicide have not been released.
In 2019, Anderson was convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Marquette County and sentenced to 12 months of probation in what was known as the “serial butt-grabber” case. Anderson was accused of running up behind unsuspecting women in Marquette and grabbing their buttocks without permission and then running away, mlive.com reported in March 2019.
